THE SCIENCE

The GLOW GTR solution utilizes biomimetics to harness the skin's natural ability to tan, known as facultative pigmentation or tanning. This process involves an increase in skin pigmentation above the basal constitutive level, induced by physiological factors such as UVR, and occurs through a reaction pathway called melanogenesis.

Biomimetic Tanning & Melanogenesis

Melanogenesis is the process by which the body produces melanin, the pigment responsible for a natural tan. This process involves the conversion of the amino acid Tyrosine through the enzyme Tyrosinase. Normally, the hormone alpha-MSH regulates this process and is responsible for darkening the skin. However, the Purely Tanned formula allows for an increase in melanogenesis even when alpha-MSH levels are low, making it possible for individuals with fair skin who typically struggle to achieve a natural tan. It is important to note that the GLOW GTR formula does not contain alpha-MSH itself and does not interfere with the body's natural hormone levels.

Tan Darker & Faster
When these compounds are more available in the skin, the body can produce more melanin, which leads to a faster and more natural tan. This is similar to how increasing both the enzyme and substrate concentration in nature speeds up reactions. It is a well-known fact that when there are higher amounts of the substances involved, reactions happen more quickly. This principle applies to biochemistry as well.
